Dear Diary,
Diamonds are forever.
I’ve always heard that saying, but I never really thought deeply about what it meant. Now, I finally understand.
“Diamonds are forever” symbolizes enduring love, permanence, resilience, and worth that never fades. I’ve realized that’s exactly the kind of person I am.
I’ve always loved deeply. I’ve loved past flaws. I’ve loved past red flags. I’ve loved through pain, even when I probably shouldn’t have. I know none of us are perfect—including me. So when I love, I love with understanding. I love with grace. I love with patience. Because those are the things I hope someone would give to me.
When I love, I love hard. And it takes a hell of a lot for me to walk away.
Diamonds are one of the hardest natural substances on Earth. In so many ways, I see myself in that. No matter how much heartbreak comes my way, I somehow still find the courage to love again. That isn’t weakness. That’s resilience.
When our hearts are broken, it’s easy to wonder if we’re enough. When it happens more than once—especially with different people—we start questioning whether we’re lovable or whether we’re the problem. While none of us are without flaws, our imperfections don’t make us unworthy of receiving the kind of love we so freely give.
If someone breaks our heart into a million pieces, we’re still worthy.
If someone leaves us for someone else, we’re still worthy.
A diamond doesn’t stop being valuable because it was left in the drawer or because someone chose another piece of jewelry. At the end of the day, it’s still a diamond. Its value never changed. The person simply failed to recognize it.
The same is true for us.
Heartbreak changes us, but it doesn’t diminish us. Every difficult season teaches us something new. Every loss leaves us with wisdom we didn’t have before. Somehow, we always find a way to heal, to keep moving, and to become stronger than we were before.
Diamonds aren’t created overnight. They’re formed under unimaginable heat and pressure over millions of years. Without the pressure, there is no diamond.
Maybe that’s true for us too.
Our hardest seasons don’t exist to destroy us—they shape us. They refine us. They reveal a strength we didn’t know we had. Even when we can’t see it in the moment, we’re becoming stronger, wiser, and even more beautiful because of what we’ve survived.
The most important thing I’ve learned is this:
Diamonds are forever because they don’t stop being diamonds when someone fails to choose them.
We were never meant to spend our lives convincing people to see our value. Real worth doesn’t beg for recognition. It simply exists.
Diamonds don’t beg to be chosen. They remain rare. They remain valuable. They remain diamonds.
Maybe the pressure in our lives isn’t proof that we’re breaking. Maybe it’s proof that we’re becoming.
And sometimes, we’re simply worth more than someone was capable of appreciating. That’s okay.
This applies to relationships. It applies to friendships. It applies to opportunities. It applies to every part of life.
Our worth has never depended on who chooses us.
Our worth is permanent.
Just like a diamond.
Don’t ever forget that.
XOXO,
Lex 🤍
